What an honor I was given last month!
I was nominated by the Mediators of Southern Nevada (MSN) for their 2011 Peacemaker of the Year award.
Celebrating its 19th year, MSN is a non-profit organization that supports mediation as a problem-solving tool. MSN celebrated the week of September 10-17, 2011 as Nevada Mediation Week and one of the highlights was the Peacemaker Dinner.
At this annual event held in Las Vegas, MSN honors community members who help to make peace in their home, workplace, neighborhood or their affiliation groups. Among those recognized this year were two family court judges with the 8th Judicial District Court, Tony Hseih, the CEO of Zappos.com, and two non-profit organizations, KidsPeace, Inc. and Horses4Heros. I was in such wonderful company and am truly humbled.
Also, earlier in September, I was asked to speak at MSN's annual training workshop sponsored with the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution. How great it was to present a CEU class to fellow mediators in the same place where I was first trained.
As Mahatma Ghandi said:
You must be the change you wish to see in the world.
